-The lead: The Assumption College women's tennis team extended their win streak to three on Tuesday after claiming a 7-2 victory over Bentley in Waltham, Mass. The win marks the Hounds' second straight NE-10 win while the 3-1 start to the season marks the best in program history in at least seven seasons.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sophomore Cassie Burbine (Londonderry, N.H. / Londonderry) paired up with junior Hannah Riley (Ellington, Conn. / Ellington) at No. 1 doubles against Bentley's Ludmila Yamus and Rachel Petrinifor an 8-3 victory.
-Senior Marie Black (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) and reining NE-10 Rookie of the Week, Paige Benoit (Holden, Mass. / St. Peter Marian Central Catholic), teamed up to play No. 2 doubles against Catherine Gianino and Hannah Fabianski. Black and Benoit claimed an 8-4 win over the duo.
-Senior Aubrey Lovejoy ((Holden, Mass. / Wachusett Regional) and sophomore Maggie Holland (Newburyport, Mass. / St. Thomas Aquinas) played a very competitive match at No. 3 doubles against Brittani Hetyei and Corrie MacLean. The Hounds picked up the last doubles match with a 9-8, tiebreaker victory.
-Riley came out strong in No. 2 singles against Gianino. The junior took the win 6-2, 6-0.
-Black, Lovejoy and Holland followed suit, each claiming victories at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Black earned her victory in two sets (7-5, 6-2) while Lovejoy and Holland each went to three.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
-Tuesday's victory marks the second win for the Greyhounds in NE-10 play. The squad remains undefeated in the league, 2-0.
-Assumption, now riding a three-win streak, is off to its best start in at least seven seasons.
-Riley and Burbine's victory at No. 1 doubles makes the pair a perfect 3-0 over the last three matches.
-In the last two matches, the Greyhounds have swept doubles play, taking No. 1, 2 and 3 over NE-10 opponents New Haven and Bentley.

-Assumption returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 17 when the team travels to American International for a 3 p.m., NE-10 match up.
