INSIDE THE NUMBERS - MATCH ONE vs. Queens:

-Senior Tara Reilly (Northport, N.Y. / Northport) led the Greyhound offense, tallying 12 kills, a team-high three service aces and one solo block. Twelve kills matches the total of Queens' Regina Anthony, who led the Knights' offense.

-Freshman Kellie Smith (Richland, Mich. / Gull Lake) registered her first collegiate double-double, ranking second on the Greyhound squad with 10 kills while registering the team's second-highest dig total (20).

-Sophomore Kiki Romanik (San Rafael, Calif. / Sir Francis Drake) accumulated 31 assists for her most assists in a match this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED - MATCH ONE vs. Queens:

-The Hounds jumped out to a one-set lead with a 25-22 victory in set one. Assumption claimed the lead (8-6) on a five-serve run from senior Courtney Bagwell (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Diamond Bar) that included kills by Reilly and Smith, along with two Knight attack errors. The Hounds increased the lead to as many as six, making it 16-10 and 20-14 before clinching the victory on a Smith kill.

-In set two, the Knights took control and downed the Hounds 25-15, largely helped by momentum from an early 6-1 lead.

-Assumption dropped the third set 25-16 after another 6-1 lead started the match momentum in favor of the Knights.

-The Hounds responded in set four, coming out with a quick kill from Smith before taking a 5-2 lead. The teams traded points and tied the score at 7-7, 15-15 and 19-19 before Assumption pulled ahead on a four-point run with sophomore Julia Goyette (Randolph, Mass. / Ursuline Academy) behind the service line. Two-straight Reilly kills helped lead to the win that was eventually clinched by a Knight blocking error (25-23).

-Just five points separated the squads in the fifth. The Hounds claimed the first two points before a four-point run by the knights made it 2-4. Assumption responded with a four-point run of its own (6-4) before the squads tied the score at 7-7, 9-9 and 10-10. Queens finished off the set with five straight to end the match, 15-10.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS - MATCH TWO vs. Georgian Court:

-It was sophomore Olivia Burke (Salem, N.H. / Salem) who led the Assumption offense in the second match of the day, posting 14 kills. Fourteen kills was also the most of any player in the match and marks a new career best for Burke.

-Chrisom and Smith notched 14 and 13 digs, respectively to lead Assumption's defense.

-Romanik added 31 assists and now registers 885 total assists in her career.

HOW IT HAPPENED - MATCH TWO vs. Georgian Court:

-The Hounds fell in three close sets, the first was the closest as the Hounds pulled within two (25-23). The teams traded points throughout the contest but the Hounds pulled ahead briefly on a service run by Smith. Burke and sophomore Stephanie Hawley (Savannah, Ga. / St. Vincent's Academy) each notched kills while Smith tallied an ace to take a 12-11 lead. The ensuing four-point run by Georgian Court ultimately put the game out of reach.

-In set two, Assumption got out to a 7-3 lead and extended it to 11-6 before the lions rattled off a seven-point stretch to take the lead 13-11. The Hounds tied it up at 13-13, 14-14 and 15-15 before falling behind for good (25-21).

-Set three was a trading of runs between the squads. The Hounds were down 7-8 before a five-point streak put them down 13-7. Soon after, the Hounds went on a run of their own to cut the deficit to two (14-12), but four more by the Lions increased the Georgian Court lead to 18-12 and Assumption eventually fell by a score of 25-18.
