BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
-Chrisom cracks into the top 10 of the Assumption record book following Saturday's match. She now holds the 10th spot in the single-match digs category with her career-high 40 and ranks seventh overall in matches that have gone to five sets.
-Reilly's 21 kills marks a new career high for the senior. Twenty-one kills is just one short of a single-match high in the Assumption record book, just one below the last spot which is currently held by sophomore Stephanie Hawley (Savannah, Ga. / St. Vincent's Academy) who registered 22 against Mercy last season on Sept. 13.
-While Romanik is already in the Assumption record book, her 48 assists was just one shy of entering the books again in the single-match category.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-The Hounds got out to a quick lead in set one and maintained it to take the eventual victory, 25-16. The set included a seven-point run that elevated the score from 14-10 to 21-10 with Goyette behind the service line.
-FPU kicked off the second set with the first point but the squads tied the score three times before the Hounds pulled ahead. The Ravens made a push for a comeback toward the end of the set, reducing a five-point Hound lead to zero to tie the match at 20-20 and again at 23-23. The Hounds claimed the final two points on a Raven attack error and a Reilly kill for the 25-23 victory.
-The third set remained close throughout the entire frame with the teams tying the score 12 times before the Ravens started to pull away. Franklin Pierce went up 20-15 before Assumption came back with a 7-2 run to tie it up again at 22 apiece. The Hounds gave up two before pulling within one point (23-24) on a kill from Reilly. FPU followed with the final point, however, for the 25-23 win.
-The Hounds fought again in the fourth, keeping the score close and earning a 23-20 lead. With Assumption just two points away from a match victory, Franklin Pierce rattled off a five-point run for the 25-23 win to propel the teams into a deciding set.
-Assumption kicked off the fifth set 2-0 before a 6-1 run gave Franklin Pierce a four-point lead. The Hounds responded to tie it 8-8 and take a 9-8 lead on a Romanik service run before FPU tied it 10-10, then 11-11, and took a 14-11 lead on a four-point run. The Ravens took the final set by a narrow score of 15-12.
