Worcester, Mass. (November 25) -- On Tuesday night, the Assumption College women's basketball team ran its record to a perfect 5-0 on the season with a wire-to-wire 82-60 home win over Saint Michael's at Laska Gym. The Hounds, who are ranked third in the D2SIDA East Region Poll, are also unbeaten in the league at 3-0.

Assumption is also receiving votes in this week's USA Today Sports Division II Women's Basketball Coaches Poll.

The Hounds jumped out an 8-2 lead just 2:32 into the game following a layup from senior captain Caitlin Ackerman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South). Assumption started the game with six straight points from junior forward Ann Marie Idusuyi (Lynn, Mass./St. Mary's) as she finished the first half with 10 points to spark the offense.

The lead went into double figures at 14-4 after a fastbreak layup by junior captain Kelly Conley (Ellington, Conn./Ellington), forcing the second Purple Knight timeout of the opening five minutes. Idusuyi went into double figures near the midway point of the half to make it a 26-11 lead before a pair of free throws from Maddy Bennett cut the Hounds lead back to 26-13 with 9:45 left in the half.

The Hounds doubled up the Purple Knights at 34-17 with 4:35 left on a three from the left wing by sophomore Allison Stoddard (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) and kept the visitors at bay for the rest of the half. Stoddard hit a three from the corner with 2:35 on the clock, followed by a putback by Jaclyn Storey (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) and a layup at the buzzer by freshman Teneya McLaughlin (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran) to send the game to halftime at 46-21.

Assumption shot 58.1 percent from the field in the period, picked up 13 assists and forced 14 Saint Michael's turnovers.

After a Conley three early in the second made it a 49-22 Assumption lead, five quick points by the Purple Knights closed the lead to 22 and forced a timeout by the Hounds. The hosts, who led by as many as 27, maintained at least an 18-point lead over the remainder of the half, en route to the 22-point victory.

Conley paced five Hounds in double figures with a 17-point effort that was fueled by 7-for-11 shooting from the field. Idusuyi and sophomore Jo Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) each posted 12 points, along with 11 out of McLaughlin and 10 from Storey. Stoddard added a game-high seven assists to go along with six points and two steals, while the 10 points were a career high for Idusuyi.

For the Purple Knights, Maggie Sabine and Makenzie Burud each tallied 14 points, along with a team-high seven rebounds by Sabine.

Assumption finished the game forcing 21 Saint Michael's turnovers while posting 22 assists and shooting 50.8 percent from the field.

While Assumption is 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the league, Saint Michael's drops to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in Northeast-10 action.

Assumption is back in action on Sunday, November 30th as the Hounds host LIU Post for a non-conference game beginning at 1:30 p.m. The game is a rematch of the 2014 NCAA East Regional.
