Box Score Briarcliff, N.Y. (September 24) -- The Assumption College women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 2-0 win over Pace University at Pace Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Greyhounds improved to 4-0-2 on the season with the win, including a 2-0-2 record in Northeast-10 Conference play while the Setters fell to 1-5-1 on the season with the loss and 1-2-1 in league play.
Junior Liz Manganella (Sandwich, Mass. / Sandwich) got the Greyhounds on the board with her first marker of the season, an unassisted tally coming near the end of the 17th minute. The score marked Manganella's first career goal.
The Greyhounds struck again less than 12 minutes later as Nicole Brady () put away the first goal of her career, with freshman Meghan Lotti (New Hyde Park, N.Y. / Great South Neck) assisting on the play. In addition to the first goal of Brady's career, it was the first career assist for the freshman, Lotti.
With a two-goal lead, the Assumption defense limited the Setters to three shots on target, and junior goalkeeper Rachel Edgin (Whitesboro, N.Y. / Whitesboro) handled all three shots she faced to record her third shutout of the season.
The Greyhounds won the shots battle by an 8-3 margin, despite the Setters holding a commanding 9-2 edge in corner attempts. Overall, Pace attempted 20 shots, while the Greyhounds attempted 16.
Assumption is back in action on October 2nd as the Greyhounds will play host to Adelphi University. The match will begin at 7 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium in Worcester, Mass.
