Syracuse, N.Y. (May 3) -- The Assumption College baseball team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference divisional doubleheader to Le Moyne College at Dick Rockwell Field on Friday afternoon.

The Greyhounds dropped the first game by a 6-5 final 12 innings. Senior Dan Bradley (Moodus, Conn. / Nathan Hale Ray) took the hard luck loss, working 5.1 innings of four-hit ball out of the bullpen, allowing the lone run of his outing in the 12th inning. He relieved Assumption starter Zack LaRosa (East Hartford, Conn. / Conard) with one out in the sixth inning was the only reliever in the game for the Greyhounds.

LaRosa got the start for the Greyhounds, working 6.1 innings while allowing five runs (four earned) while striking out four. He allowed eight hits while not issuing a walk while earning a no-decision.

The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a solo homerun by sophomore Billy Johnson (Auburn, Mass. / Holy Name). The lead was short lived as the Dolphins scored twice in the bottom of the second, taking a 2-1 lead.

The Dolphins extended the lead to two on a solo shot of their own in the bottom of the third. After scoreless innings in the third and fourth, Assumption evened the game with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Junior Bret Clark (Bristol, Conn. / Bristol Central) had an infield single to drive in a run in the fifth and graduate student Ben Benigno (Trumbull, Conn. / Trumbull) drove in senior Travis Smith (Coventry, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) with a single down the left field line.

Le Moyne took a 5-3 lead with two runs in the bottom of the seventh but Assumption again evened the score with two runs of its own in the top of the ninth. Senior Shane Keddy (Worcester, Mass. / Worcester Tech) drove in Johnson with a single up the middle to cut the lead to one and freshman catcher Tomas Paine (Upton, Mass. / Nipmuc) came around to score on a fielding error by the Dolphin centerfielder to tie the score and send the game into extra innings.

After two scoreless innings, Le Moyne scored the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the 12th.

The Greyhounds dropped the second game of the doubleheader by a 16-5 final. Le Moyne jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run start.

Assumption tied the game with single runs in the second, third and fourth innings. Paine had an RBI groundout in the second inning, scoring senior Nick Napoli (Medford, Mass. / Boston College).

Keddy came around to score on a fielder's choice in the third inning before the Greyhounds tied the score in the next inning as Keddy drew a bases load walk to score Paine.

The Dolphins broke the game open with a nine-run fourth inning on the way to the 16-5 final.

Junior Cody Rocha (Fall River, Mass. / BMC Durfee) took the loss to fall to 4-4 on the season, while Kevin Carroll earned the win for Le Moyne.

The Greyhounds fall to 12-32 overall, including an 8-12 record in divisional play while the Dolphins improve to 22-22 overall and 13-7 in the division.

The Greyhounds will conclude the 2013 season on Saturday, May 4th with a single game against Le Moyne. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m. in Syracuse, N.Y.
