Box Score Worcester, Mass. (October 22) -- Senior Jess Reimers (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos) recorded a career-high 41 digs as the Assumption College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 final to American International College at the Laska Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. The set scores were 24-26, 21-25, 25-23, and 22-25.
Senior Lauren Ostafin (Avon, Conn. / Avon) had a double-double for the Greyhounds with 14 kills and 14 digs while senior Ryan Merle (Skaneateles, N.Y. / Skaneateles) recorded 11 kills and a .229 hitting percentage to rank second on the team.
Setter Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J. / Immaculate Heart) directed the offense for the Greyhounds, distributing 45 assists, a high for the match.
Senior Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas / Glenda Dawson) had 25 digs to rank second on the team defensively and added seven kills for the Greyhounds offense. Junior Ann Donahue (Braintree, Mass. / Braintree) had three blocks to lead Assumption while matching Johnston's seven kills.
The Greyhounds fall to 4-14 with the loss and are now 1-8 in Northeast-10 Conference play while American International improves to 11-11 on the season and now sits at 5-3 in league play.
Assumption is back in action on October 26th at Franklin Pierce University. The match will begin at 5 p.m. in Rindge, N.H.
