Box Score
Worcester, Mass. (October 20) -- Freshman Sarah Frahm (Salem, N.H./Salem) scored with 39.7 seconds left in overtime to lift Assumption to a 3-2 overtime over Franklin Pierce on Senior Day at the Multi-Sport Stadium. Prior to the game, the Hounds recognized seniors Britt Allen (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln), Jess MacDonald (Morris, Conn./Wamogo Regional) and Kathy Moffett (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) for their contributions to the program during their four-year careers.
The Hounds got on the board at the 5:20 mark of the first half as freshman Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy) fired a crossing pass to freshman Maria Beatrice (South Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth), who tipped home the pass for her eighth goal of the season.
Just over three minutes later, the Ravens answered as senior Megan Bird fired in a shot moments after a penalty corner. That shot was tipped by Chanelle Letarte and in for her fifth goal of the season that tied the game at 1-1.
The score remained that way until early in the second half when Jessica Rogers took a pass across the goal from Bird and lofted the ball in for her second goal of the year and a 2-1 edge. The Hounds kept the pressure on though and with eight minutes left, sophomore Paige Anderson (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) tipped in a shot from Colucci for her team-best 12th goal of the season and the 2-2 deadlock.
In overtime, the Hounds had a number of great scoring chances but had their first five efforts turned aside by Ravens netminder Sarah Cote as she made a number of spectacular saves. With the game seemingly headed to a second overtime, Frahm scored her second game-winning goal of the season off a pass from Anderson for the 3-2 comeback victory.
Colucci ended the game with two assists and finished the season with a team-best eight assists. Anderson ended with a goal and an assist to end the season with 31 points and 12 goals. Her 31-point season is the eighth-highest total in Assumption history, while her 12 goals tie her for seventh.
Junior Heather Philbrick (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) made two saves in the win, while Cote turned aside 15 shots in the defeat as Assumption outshot the Ravens 26-6 on the afternoon.
Assumption ends the season at 8-10 overall and 5-5 in the Northeast-10, while Franklin Pierce finishes at 3-14 overall and 1-9 in the league. The Hounds finished in a three-way tie for fifth place with Stonehill and Southern Connecticut, but lose the tiebreaker in a mini-conference with the Skyhawks and Owls. The .500 record in league play is the first for the Hounds in 10 seasons and represents a seven-game overall win improvement from 2011.
