Waltham, Mass. (September 13) -- The Assumption women's volleyball team fell to Bentley University, 3-1, in its first NE-10 match of the season. The game scores were 17-25, 10-25, 25-19, 21-25.
The Hounds got a strong showing from Lauren Ostafin (Avon, Conn./Avon), who finished with five kills and 11 digs. Steph Whooten (Norton, Mass./Bishop Feehan ) led the team in digs, with 14, while Sam Lupinski (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) notched a team-high seven kills. Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas/Glenda Dawson) added five kills for the Hounds while Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J./Immaculate Heart) had 28 assists to go along with seven digs and two kills.
After dropping the first two games, the Hounds rallied to win the third game, 25-19, and played Bentley tough in the fourth game.
The loss drops the Hounds to 4-4 on the season and 0-1 in the Northeast-10, while Bentley improves to 3-4 on the season with a 1-1 record in the conference.
Assumption hits the court next at Saint Anselm on September 15 at 7:00 p.m.
